FAQ RX-8 Oil Change
When changing the engine oil, it is recommended not only on the drain plug (3) of the oil pan, but also at the same time
Unscrew the thermostats on the side of both oil coolers (2) and drain much more oil.
One gets easy access to the oil cooler by partially unscrewing the underbody plastic cover
and is carefully pushed away. The engine oil should ideally be around 60-70 degrees Celsius. If possible, tilt the vehicle about 12 cm so that the oil pan drain plug is the lowest point. Please always use a new sealing washer for the drain plug.
The oil filter (1) is located behind the driver side intake manifold. Always change this.

Transmission oil change:
When changing the gearbox, open the drain plug (s) and drain the oil completely.
Always use new sealing washers.
Unscrew the oil filler plug and the amount of oil is best with a pump syringe to the edge
fill the filling hole.

5 Speed Gearbox:
Tightening torque
A: 39-59 Nm
B: 21-31 Nm
25-39 Nm filler plug
Tightening torque of the two screws
27-48Nm
When changing the diff oil, open the drain plug and drain the oil completely. Always use new sealing washers.
Unscrew the oil filler plug and best fill the oil quantity with a pump syringe up to the edge of the filler hole.
